Each member of the team offers a unique perspective that helps us to deliver the results that our clients deserve.
Julie Hill
Owner & Creative Director
Julie trained as an advertising and editorial Photographer before setting up a studio in London as an editorial Photographer for magazines and books.
She moved to Devon with her young family in 2003 to be closer to the sea and established an interiors business, which she successfully sold a few years later. In 2006, Julie expanded on her love of homes and properties and used her wealth of personal experience with moving house to set up The Coastal House.
Julie is responsible for the strategic direction and development of the company. She has a keen interest in marketing and is constantly looking to raise the bar and push the boundaries when it comes to the service she provides.
When she is not busy helping people to find their forever homes, Julie can be found close to the water on the Dartmouth Estuary or heading out to sea for a ski and a swim. She enjoys walking the Southwest Coast Path and the many woodland walks right on our doorstep.
Katie Egan
Operations Manager
Katie spent her childhood moving around the country before finally settling in Devon. She graduated with a BA Joint Honours in Russian & German and has Postgrads in Market Research and General Marketing plus various leadership, negotiating, presenting and train the trainer accreditations.
Katie worked in Business Development & Marketing for over 25 years in professional services before joining The Coastal House. An articulate and efficient member of the team, Katie doesn’t get fazed by anything. Her experience in business has allowed her to develop excellent promotional and negotiating skills which definitely come in handy now.
She enjoys the variety that comes with working at The Coastal House and enjoys finding the right property for the right people. When she is not working, Katie enjoys reading, travelling and dining in waterside pubs and restaurants with friends. When it comes to local days out, she recommends a trip to Shoalstone sea water pool in Brixham.
April Harvey
Client Executive
Having lived in Devon most of her life, April has a genuine love for the area’s stunning coastline, unique homes and welcoming communities.
April is a busy mum of three with a background running her own business, built on exceptional customer service, creativity and forming lasting relationships with her clients — qualities she brings straight to the heart of The Coastal House team.
With three years’ experience running her own photography business, April has a natural eye for capturing character and detail, along with a genuine understanding of what makes a house feel like a home. She knows how thoughtful photography and marketing can showcase a property’s best features and tell its story in a way that resonates with buyers.
April’s warm, personable approach means clients feel at ease from the very first conversation, and her attention to detail ensures nothing is overlooked throughout the sales process. Her background in managing every side of a client-facing business — from first enquiry through to delivery — gives her a real appreciation for smooth, stress-free service, something she’s committed to bringing to every home she helps sell.
Outside of work, April loves spending time with her family, exploring South Devon’s beaches and coastal paths, keeping fit, and discovering beautiful National Trust properties along the way.
Yvonne Young
Stylist & designer
Yvonne’s big passion is interior design having studied it at university. After a career in banking and as an office manager, Yvonne now loves to use her interest in homes and property to help you sell your home.
Yvonne’s interior styling skills are perfectly suited to creating a stylish look and feel to your home, giving buyers an opportunity to see your house at its very best. Yvonne will visit your property and spend the time to get to know your home and the story behind it. This helps her to bring your property to life and explain how potential buyers can enjoy their new Devon lifestyle.
In her spare time, she loves to spend as much time as possible outside with her family, they love to go for coastal and countryside walks and do not have to go far!
Favourite walks are the beaches on the coastal path between Start Point Lighthouse and Gara Rock. The walk from Noss to Agatha Christies house Greenway is also popular– especially in the Spring.
JJ Gregory O’Brien
Client Executive
JJ has a BSc in Psychology and has spent her career in premium, customer-focused environments. She’s a real people person, bringing a bright, confident energy to everything she does.
For over ten years, JJ lived in Australia, working with some of the country’s leading photography studios in Sydney, Melbourne and Byron Bay, before becoming the resident photographer for a luxury private island in the Whitsundays.
Since returning to the UK, JJ has taken on house renovations and invested in property, giving her first-hand knowledge of the industry from a buyer’s perspective. Having relocated numerous times around the South West with The Royal Navy and her young family, she understands better than most just how much a home truly matters.
Now settled with permanent roots in Dartmouth, JJ’s mission is to help clients navigate their next move with an authentic, empathetic approach — bringing genuine care to every step of the journey.
When she’s not helping to sell houses, JJ is off having adventures with her two children. You’ll likely find her at the beach, paddleboarding up the River Dart, or tending her allotment.
